paying full price would be dumb... but its not stupid at all. Not everyone wants or can afford a 40D, 50D, or a 5D/5D mkII. :dunno:

he wants 540 total from me.

good looking body, ~6000 clicks, all new accessories (cables, strap, battery, etc.)

i was going to get one locally for 525, but that guy is flaking because he cant find a 40d seller.

540 seems about right to me (for the market). But I would probably wait it out and see how far the prices drop on the 40d since the 50d was just announced.

yea, thats sort of what i mean. The thing is, 20d bodys still go for 375-450, so worst case scenario, a year or so from now if i want to upgrade ill be out ~100-150.

Also, i never watched the markets the last time a new body was released, but id imagine it will take at least a couple months for the price to drop in any significant way. Or am i wrong on that?

From what I've seen the prices drop under market value for a couple weeks and then slowly come back up to market value. Depends on the camera though and how big of an update it is.

There is definitely a floor for prices though and the 20D is pretty close to hitting it.

I'd wait and let the 40D prices drop.

14 bit a/d converter, Digic III processor, slightly better AF system, larger buffer (not important to most).
