If I take out my visible mods for a job, am I selling out?
wow! thats sad if you think it is
no. that's job security and trying to just advance your life.. you an always get more later when the opportunity arrises.
i did it... took out my plugs, my lip, cut my hair. its growing up, and realising that no matter what stereotypes exist and that you have to buy in to make it.
piercings come and go, they don't define who you are - handle business first, you can always poke a needle through your skin again at a later time
are you changing jobs erin??
but yea, sometimes you have to sacrifice things to set yourself up
but you know if you want them again, when the opportunity comes up, you'll do something about it
kinda same reason i dont have alot of visible things - my mormon bosses would have a fit but later in life, i may do something if i still feel like it
I just feel that taking out my visible piercings would not only make me sad but will make me feel like I am comprimising too much... just to earn more money
Bianca - yeah I am applying for new jobs at the moment. I have an interview on Monday.
I don't think so.
you don't have to "buy in to make it" if you have a big cock, talent and can spit game.
if "buy in" means taking out an ear ring. I have no piercings. Ready for my first visible tattoo though, it will only help my standing in the "workplace"
I only have a little cock
it's not selling out. mods are more acceptable now, i think, at least in general society, but i'm not sure they're that accepted in the work place. of course, it depends on what field you're in.
like two toys said, it's growing up. when i was in college, i was all about the "i won't work for anyone who won't accept mulitple piercings, tattoos and dyed hair." now i've grown up a little and i've realized that's not the most realistic approach.
what kind of jobs are you looking for?
thankfully my visable piercings are fully healed so i take them out everyday for work (and my septum just sits tucked up in my nose). You just have to choose: get a ahead by playing the game for a while, or wait it out and try and find a job more accomodating
in my field its not even that tattoos or piercings are looked down upon.. its just that first impression, i have no problem showing my bosses my scars and having them freak out and then get curious and touch them.. but thats only after they know me and know that I am a hard worker, a good worker, and a good person.
Oh my coworkers and bosses know i'm a pierced tatooed freak, but they didn't find that out till AFTER they got to know that I wasn't a dirtbag piece of shit.
I agree with basically everyone else...
No it's not sad, I worked for 2 months with just long sleeve shirts in the summer stocking the back room at a department store.
After I got to know the people I worked for they didn't mind my tattoos (or didn't have the balls to ask me to cover them up )
However, a lot of jobs where you deal with people all the time (sales, cashier) you can't get away with piercings or sleeves.
All depends where your job is.
and if you plan on doing any of those jobs as a real career you might as well kill yourself right now
I have meet some heavily pierced/tattooed dirtbag pieces of shit lately, it frustrates me soo much! Because they are giving us all bad names
awwwwwwwu wanna cuddle wif me
Yes Can I be the little spoon?
if at all possible, i avoid showing any tattoos until after i've been hired and have shown i'm a good employee ( i work in conservative places, so i do what a need to do to get the job - and the reference later on)
