Is it possible to install an OS on a drive while being on a installed OS?

For example I'm on w7 and have a blank (but formatted drive), could I just install xp or some shit without having to do the typical OS install?

    Just curious really. :o

Linux can do it, but Windows can't.

maybe if you had an image of the XP install you can do it.

You can install an OS onto another drive if you have an image like crontab is saying but to boot into one or the other you need a boot loader of some sort
