I have a love-hate relationship with this stupid thing. When it works, it's heaven. But the stupid scroll ball gets all messed up and won't scroll down. I clean it, rub it, blow it out, use rubbing alcohol, it works for minutes, sometimes hours, then gets all clogged up. It seems sometimes I can get it to work great for a few hours, then I leave and come back the next day, and it stops fucking working again. Is there a way to actually get this thing clean. It's like I get the sensor clean, but the dirt is still inside the cavity and ends up back on the sensor. It is one of the very first mighty mice, I don't know if they have gotten easier to maintain or what.

Anyone else share in my frustration?

Yes, I share the same frustration, I completely bypassed getting one and went straight to a Logitech MX1000...

    no.

Brought mine in to the apple store a few weeks ago, they cleaned it and said to use alcohol wipes.

2 weeks later, something got caught in it, so when I did the upside-down roll on paper thing, the ball got carved up, now it fucking sucks at scrolling.

apple needs to just put a fucking touch sensor on the top already

I've only had issues with the BT Mighty Mouse. The wired version I have for my iMac hasn't had any problems (20-22 months ago).

For BT, i use the MX1000

I hate them, I use Microsoft mice. Mice are the only things Microsoft really makes well.

Using a Razer Deathadder right now for my MBP, and I'm tempted to get another MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, since it's still the best I've used. :o

    love it

don't understand all the problems peeps have with the ball

every once in awhile I turn it upside down, roll the ball around on my desk for a bit and it's good to go

    :)

I actually never heard of the paper trick until this thread... I was always using a cloth like the apple video shows. The paper has seemed to help greatly and seems so obvious. Hopefully, that will keep me sane for a while.

Rubbing alcohol + 4 minutes of random rotations upside-down on paper and its good as new.
