With any of those low-carb diets, it seems like it increases the risk of heart disease because of all the sat fats. Aren't there any alternatives, or can your body not figure out how to burn fat instead of carbs if you're not constantly shoveling it into your face?

I know what they are :squint: I just didn't know if you would still get the desired effect, since all the diets seem to call for plenty of sat fat.

Schwing. Any good foods that are high in these but not necessarily skyrocketing the sats?

I know I'm cutting down my options by going for something like this, but surely there's more than veggies and meat (or other protein foods).

Just about your only option in that case is PSMF. Be prepared to eat chicken and broccoli for every meal, with protein shakes for snacks. Why are you so set on ketosis anyway, it's hardly the most efficient way to lose weight. No carbs = tired, irritable, no energy to work out, and it does weird shit to your body that even I don't understand. Timed carb is fine, but I don't understand the appeal of going without carbs for a long period of time. And if you think you can't eat fats because of your heart condition, doing the Atkins or whatever isn't going to be the best thing for your body. FFS if your heart is really that bad, you will actually be needing a lot of those healthy fats. A balanced diet, and exercise. Viola.

Depends on your body type. I know for me personally, once I've been on the CKD or TKD for more than one week, I actually have MORE energy in ketosis then when not. Its mostly due to insulin sensitivity. My insulin levels fly up and then crash EVERY time I eat carbs. When I'm in keto, they stay much more steady, keeping my energy levels pretty constant.

My cholesterol levels actually improved significantly while on ckd a few years back.

OK. Read that, should give some more info. You don't need saturated fat. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.. you need healthy fats, however.. mono and poly. Nuts, Oils, meats, etc.

    I don't have a heart condition. I just don't want to get one :o

I'm tired of gaining muscle and being, for the most part, unable to see it. Bulking up with a layer of fat over everything makes you just look pudgy when you have a shirt on. If I could get from ~20% (where I am now) down to about 13%, I'd be happy just trying to maintain that.

What would you consider more efficient?

PSMF sucks, although shrimp is a great option for when you do go on PSMF. after you pass the "wall", it's not so bad and it's only for a short period of time anyways.

being tired and irritable, fatigue, alcohol breath and skin, fish smelling pee and rancid ass farts take some getting used to though.

Do a search for Timberwolf's timed carb diet. That works well, or 1fast400's thread on the game over/cut diet. I sorta know what you mean about how it's depressing to not be able to see your results, but usually when I'm bulking I look more fit with a shirt on, and when I'm lean I just look like a normal skinny guy. :hs:

cutdiet would work well. Read my thread and 1fast400's thread.

It's not as hard you are picturing. Work hard, and the fat melts off.
