Past a certain point? It was easy when I started getting in shape, but I was 50 pounds heavier then. Now that I'm in decent shape with enough body fat to be uncomfortable but not enough to be considered overweight, I seem to have plateaued. Now that I look at this:

    http://www.healthrecipes.com/calories.htm

It seems that I should be eating about 1100-1200 calories a day with my current exercise routine in order to lose weight. I've been stuck at my current state for a while and have been eating closer to 1600-1700 with my routine. I'm barely going up in strength and don't seem to be losing any noticeable fat. I don't see how, with the amount of lifting I do, I could possibly not be starving on 1200 calories a day though. Any thoughts?

Owned. I hope I can at least keep the muscle I've got instead of losing it with the fat.

    height/weight?

1200 does not seem enough, you will lose muscle.. a slow, steady cut will help you retain your muscle mass.. keep the protein/water intake up..

if you cut hardcore like that, you're gonna lose muscle and strength, and quickly.

I would say if your cutting, you need at least 1600 calories, if not more. But yeah make sure you consume a lot of protien and water and you should be alright.

I do cardio every other day, sometimes after weights (I bring a protein bar for post-workout nutrition) if I still have energy afterwards. The only thing that could be hindering me is that my diet has been pretty high-carb on account of me being unemployed and having to live hella cheap. I've stayed away from the really shitty poor-food (ramen and whatnot) but had to eat a lot of wraps and such.

My contracting agency seems to think I'll have some work pretty soon here. Hopefully I can fix my diet up a bit then :hs: On the bright side, I've been keeping my calorie goals regardless.

I know the unemployment/bulking catch 22 far too well.

yes it's possible, it's called noob gains. I think it's better to get some muscle, eat properly and get a little change in body composition while in a little calorie surplus than trying to do too much on a calorie deficit. It worked much better for me though.

I suck at bulking hardcore. I'd rather lose fat and be able to see what little muscle I have :hs:

For some reason I just don't ever go up in weights. I even compacted 4 different weight routines into 2 so I could work the same muscles out twice in a week, but still no dice really.

Possible, yes, but is also very slow. Look up "body recomposition" if you're interested.

But bulking and then cutting is better IMO.
