My laptop came with a 256mb stick and I want to buy 512mb more for $50 shipped from newegg. How will different sized memory affect system performance? :noes:

you need to tell us what chipset your system is. Most notebooks are not Dual Channel, so it won't matter at all so long as you match the same "grade" memory and speed.
