My right knee is still bothered by lunges, but I can squat and front squat just fine. This is what my leg day will look like:

    Squats
    Front Squats
    Ham curls
    Seated calf-raises
    SLDL's
    GM's

    :bigthumb: or :ugh2:

I like lunges, they fucking tire me out fast like nothing else though.

If lunges are bothering your knees, absolutely.

That said, that's a lot of volume for a leg day. Pick one of the squat types and one of the SLDL/GM.

in my 3 day split i usually do back the first, front the second, and back the third, with lunges after the fronts

i think for me doing both on the same day would overdo it, but everyone's different :dunno:

pray tell more, I've been doing lunges for my glutes (and partly hamstrings), aren't front squats emphasizing quads while relieving the pulling muscles of the back squat (ie. glutes)

Yeah, I don't feel the glutes while front squatting. Bulgarian split squat helps for this though, the glutes is my weakness when going a2g (obviously) and it needs more work.

i thought lunges were for quad stuff. if you want glute emphasis put some weight on them do power squats, rdls, pull throughs, etc

I add lunges for the isolation of each leg, basicaly to avoid any side dominance.
