Is it necessary to take both flax seed and fish oil?

    Which one is better? Should I take both?

    really?
    im sure youve posted articles b4 but i cant remember why..
    please explain. i thought flax was better b/c it contained omega 3 like fish, as well as flax..

    Flax DOES NOT contain EPA and DHA. Fish Oil does.

    Flax contains alot of omega 3 (Linoeic Acid) which is converted too EPA and DHA in the body. However, Theoretical estimates have been made at about a 25% to 35% conversion.

    In a perfect world, you'd get about a 30% conversion, so each tablespoon of flax oil would provide about 2.5g of EPA/DHA: The only problem is that this conversion rate is dependent on a number of enzymes that vary from person to person and even from day to day.

    do both, but try adding the flax to some whole grain porridge, or even in a spread. Absorbsion is aided that way.

    couldn't you just up your dosage of flax a bit then :dunno:

    I also take the flax seed oil to maintain my calorie intake.
