I know it's illegal to have a website that allows people to download mp3s of famous artists/songs etc but what if you just allow people to stream the mp3s but not actually download them? Would that be legal and would adsense accept a site like that?

I've wondered about this as well with regards to sites like live365.com who have been around forever. I never heard of people who have radio shows on there getting sued and you know they aren't paying anything special for the music they air (ie: licensing).

Illegal unless you have a license to distribute it, and pay the royalties.

Steaming a song is still downloading the file.

    Technically, and legally.

You're just playing it WHILE you download it.

So yes, it's still illegal, under the same laws.
