or, are more people distributing things in the wonderful PDF format. I just got an email from my home office and they LOVE MS Office; however I was pleasently surprised when the attachment was a PDF. It seems that more people are packaging things off and sending them in PDF.

With that said I am damn glad I have a make and do not have to pay to create PDFs.

Any good client knows that the Autodesk DWF viewer is mandatory for good service. ;)

Heh, I hate this. My school went online this year with homework assignments, so I've got to download the assignment sheets each week.
All my teachers use fucking .doc. So I've got to download it, wait for Office 2004 to load (which blows on my Macbook Pro).

I've got one teacher that uses pdf, and he's my physics teacher. The pdf opens right in Safari. I've yet to find a safari plugin that'll let me open a .doc in safari.

yeah i have to struggle with this with school too. i once submitted a lengthy business plan via pdf. it was a "pretty" document in the sense that there was a ton of formatting, fonts, charts, etc... all prepared in pages. well the little TA fellow told me that he would only accept it in .doc so he could run it through a plagarism check (we were never told this). so i forwarded his lazy email to my professor along with another pdf copy.

Ah, but dwgs are much bigger than pdfs and take longer to load in autodesks viewer vs. pdfs and acrobat.

i just like pdf's because formatting isnt an issue and get cant get screwed up like a .doc.

especially with this new .docx mess.

This is true, but sometimes clients need to be able to manipulate layers in the viewer.

PDF is all we use at work to send proofs to clients, no worrying about missing fonts, uncompatable software versions etc... i didn't know that PDF was an apple thing though
