Is it just me or does "Sky Captian and the World of Tomorrow" look a whole lot like "Last Exile"? Similar battle ships, similar airplanes, similar weapons, similar setting....We'll have to wait until next week...but I think it looks like a direct rip of Last Exile.

thats what i thought exaclty when seeing the commercials, but the idea behind sky captain is about 10 years older then last exile.

jesus no love here for 1930s scifi noir here at all. i think the movie is going to be absolutely fabulous.

what you also have to realise is the 1930/40s scifi noir was full of this.

huge aircraft carrier sized airships. blimps. etc

Well it's mostly the planes whose wings fold down like legs that remind me of Last exile.

that reminds me more of miyazakis castle in the clouds, though he's drawing from the same 30s/40s scifi noir.

i'm sure when we all finally get to see it we'll see parts of last exile and castle in the clouds in it, but really everything is being pulled from 30s/40s scifi noir, all really wonderfull and fantasical pre rocket age scifi.

:o i've been wanting someone to get back into blimp building and commercial/luxury travel like we had back in the 30s :sad2:
