I have a PA ATV website that i'm trying to get to the top of google for every PA ATV related search term.. is it best to load the site upwith the keywords or load the meta tags with a lot of keywords? Its a phpbb3 message board, and is already in the top 10 for things like "pa atv forums" .. "pa atv" and maybe a few others.. so I'm looking for a way to drive it up the last few spots to the #1 ranking on google.. It doesn't seem to difficult but i'm not sure what else to do:o

Also, when dealing with meta tags does google recognize the long-tail keywords, like 4-5+ words?

Your meta-tags have no affect on your serps with Google. It would be equivalent to adding that extra keyword on that page. Other search engines like Yahoo or Ask for example would still utilize meta keywords to help with your serps.

put your main keywords in your meta, then make sure you have 'em on your page quite a bit. throw up a tag cloud or something similar.

get some good back links as well using those keywords.

and google does recognize the long-tail keywords. that's what i emphasize when SEO'ing my sites and outside of the domain name/model name, the long tail keywords make up the other 4-5k/day from google on each site.

and we are not talking an ecommerce site here

and I can post several links to other sites that say 10 to 15 is more than enough

but ecommerce sites are treated differently than regular sites

    Put keywords on your site.
    Two tips:

    1) Put the main keyword in <h1></h1>
    2) Also bold and underline the keyword once in your page. Google does take that into account.

I'd rather narrow the meta tags to a few keywords isolated to the specific products, and have dynamic keywords depending on the products and pages you are on.

umm each product should have its own page and be optimized towards that and the page that displays them all should be optimized towards how they're grouped on that page
