for like 10 hours continuously a day? i just switched from a CRT monitor to a 19 inch LCD monitor and this is kind of weird but i like to have my screen saver as the time so when i wake up in the mornings or from a nap, i can see what time it is :hs: . so thats why i want to know will it be bad for me to leave it on?

It's bad to leave anything on forever, especially if it's expending energy to stay static -- such as running electricity through liquid crystals so they can show the same four numbers onscreen for hours at a time.

I use my LCD at work for ten hours a day, though, and it hasn't suffered. But then I do use it for something.

if the screen saver is moving and not static, then it's fine. Black background, right?

yes when the screen saver is on, the background is black and the time moves back and forth on the screen
