Not a chance what? That you would leave it there or that it would harm it? I guess what I am really asking being a noobie is would the heat cause the powder to heat up and possible ignite?

Sorry, not a chance that it will be harmed. The only way the rounds would cook off, is if your car caught on fire and burned up, then it could happen.

There are some really good gun forums out there. Check out www.thehighroad.org, and glocktalk.com to get started. If you want more, just ask the people at one of those forums for some links to other good forums. If you are into 1911's then check out www.1911forum.com

Yes it is. Car theft rates here are low. I have a massive car alarm on my Maxima. I have a CCP and I drive a lot.

What is the point though....I mean being armed is kinda nessesary sometimes I guess. I can confidently say I have never been driving down the road and thought it would be nice to have a handgun in my glove compartment.

Generally the need presents itself when you are not, in fact, driving. Carjacking, parking lot roberies, etc.. usually don't take place while in motion.

It's not always practical or legal to carry your firearm so leaving it in the car if you happen to be in certain public buildings or "posted" private businesses is necessary. Or, in my case, if your employer strictly prohibits the posession of firearms by employees on company property. Blah.

I am asking a question not calling you a fucking redneck piece of dogshit for having a handgun. If you would like me to take a different approch then I can do that too....

It is true I live in a place where I don't have to worry about car jackings so that wasn't a really obvious reason to have a handgun in a car. I just had visions of some skinny ass fuck hauling out a handgun like in Swingers and figured that was probuably more like how it would go down if an OT'er had a handgun in his car.... :fawk:

I'm just hoping you only leave it there when you can't bring it into a building & not where you just keep on the norm. It will do you no good there. Just carry the thing that's why you got the permit for. Do you live in the metro? if you do, car jackings are not that rare here but unlikely unless you frequent the wrong parts of town.
    Cheers

Hey where in the TC do you live??

I am in Eden Prairie, do a lot of shooting at Bills in Robinsdale. PM me if you ever want to hit the range!

I keep it there because I drive a lot and I obviously cannto carry it into work. When I go somewhere I take it out of the box and carry

You should hit the Dakota Fitness range, nicer, cheaper (with membership), closer, quieter.
That reminds me I need to renew my membership & my carry permit.

I think it's like $35 a year, but it's $7 to shoot with membership. it's like $14 for a non member, So if you go a few times it's paid for. I have a hard time shooting at other places now cause they're real slimmy. Burnsville range is cheap at $6 for non members, but it's always busy. Armored Fire is real expensive but you can fire a rifle inside so it's fairly cool

No it's in the Dakota Fitness building next to Mystic Lake Casino. There's a seperate entrance next to the main entrance to go downstairs to the range.
