Is it bad to have milk with my PWO shake or does it really not matter?

    Training, and eating right is going to get you better than trying to figure out the perfect time to eat this meal or drink milk or not to drink milk.

    I know. But from what I hear, good PWO nutrition is vital if you want to grow. I figure it's the one thing I should worry about at this point.

    I think you could eat a 10oz sirloin with 2cups of milk or 2scoops of whey, or 2scoops of whey with milk.

    As long as your getting in more calories than you burn in a day your fine.

    I put in skim milk to give me some post-workout carbs

    the only thing I have read is just use skim milk, if you use any other kind, all the fat can slow absorbtion rate of the protein and you body may miss the protein assimilation in its "anabolic window".

    not really, small amounts of fat in liquid form have a minimal effect on protein absorption.

    I've been having my boyfriend drink low-fat chocolate milk as a PWO drink since he won't touch protein powder.

    As long as you get something to eat 1-2h after your workout and that it has protein it's fine. Milk is also good because it elicits a much bigger insulin response than it should considering its carb content so it favors an anabolic environment.

    It's actually been found that a mix of casein/whey is best PWO... so it is probably better to drink your PWO shake with skim milk
