i'm only able to work out mon-thurs, so i dont have as many days to alternate between cardio (running and elliptical) vs weight lifting

is it bad to do weights and cardio on the same day?

if it's not a huge deal, which should i be doing first? weights, then cardio right after? or cardio first?

    thanks

What if I would do cardio in the morning and lift in the afternoon?

That's what I do. Lift first if you can only workout once per day.

I'd prefer to have my energy concentrated on lifting primarily and cardio secondarily.

I also read a study once upon a time that indicated you'll burn more calories running after lifting.

It was probably some BS men's health article but you never know.

Been reading that book "Body for Life" ol Bill says absolutly don't do cardio and weights on the same day. Said the cardio is counter productive on your muscles if you lifted.

Shit if I know though, I am a super newb to all this.

it depends what your goals are. build muscle or lose fat. trying to do both at one time is a poor choice. pick one, and focus on it, eat for it.

So you're saying if I'm trying to lose weight, I shouldn't hit the weights "hard" and focus mainly on cardio?

Losing fat/building muscle is mainly determined by your diet. Hit the weights hard and do cardio, but be sure your diet is in line for losing weight.

i have to do cardio 3 times a week. So i usually end up doing cardio/weights the same day. At first it affected me, but my bodys getting used to it. So it don't affect my weightlifting as much. And i'll usually run 3-7miles with other bw exercises 3 times a week. and i'll do a few 5-7mile runs on my own about 2 times a week. My diet is alot of junk food, so the cardio keeps my bodyfat down.
