Is it bad that i've had my bike for a little over a month and have 1700 miles?

That's pretty excessive, but you won't ride that much consistently I'm sure :)

Also, you've done your initial oil change already, right?

I take 1 or 2 week trips that put on 2500-3000 miles all at once. Practice makes perfect so the more you get out there the better rider you will become. Much better to put on 1700 miles in a month than to be one of those guys who rides 200 miles a year.

I put about 1k on mine the first month. 1700 is not bad. I wish I had the time to ride more often. I'm strictly commuting locally to work and a once a month trip to Azusa Canyons up to Baldy.

Shit, keep that sort of pace up, and you can try out for your Iron Butt award.

Put 1,000 in one day late last year. I recently did 3,500 in three weeks. Amazingley my Michellin Pilot Powers are holding up. I get such a deal on them that I can afford to go through just about a set a month. To me, thats not enough:rofl: Of course, I work within the motorcycle industry. I HAVE to ride.

My car gets no love now that I'm out of school.

    :wtf:

Even if you were driving 100mph you would have to drive over ten hours straight. If you were realistically riding an average speed of 85mph then :doingmathinmyhead: fuck it! Still would be around 12 hours and thats straight. That would be like driving from Los Angeles, CA to Seattle, WA straight. Thats a long ride even in a car. I would have to make at least one overnight stop. What were you doing?

Iron Butt Association Saddlesore 1,000. I wanted to see if I could manage it on a sportbike.

Im so going to do that as well!

I just read the article in this months issue of Motorcyclist. And it sounds like a blast to do.

I always like the idea of things like that. So, im definately going to give it a try once i get a few miles underneath me, and feel confident enough to do it.

A Saddlesore Groupride would kick ass.

never mind you butt but what about your back...that had to have been bad. I'm assuming there are many stops but how long did this take and what time did you start and end?

It has to be done within 24 hours. Considering my fuel range is about 120 before reserve comes on, yes, there were many stops:rofl: . I'll have to look at my records for the exact times. The exact mileage was 1,124. You have to have witnesses at the beginning and end, and save all fuel receipts. Its much more structured than I thought it would be.
