So my buddy has an amatuer fight at my local gym next saturday and he is unsure whether he should cut some weight during the time before then and work on cardio.

Will it affect his strength and performance if he only eats low calories and does high intensity workouts from now until then? :dunno:

he's already in the weight class, just wondering if cutting fat will help him be more agile and less tired.

unless he is fighting in super heavyweight or something and could stand to actually lost some weight, otherwise it won't help him

he should be working cardio regardless

nothing worse than kicking ass, getting gassed, then having your ass kicked because of it.

we need more details on this guys weight
if he cuts 8-10 lbs and that would put him in a lower division......

You want to stay at the top of your weight class typically. If he doesn't know this it's probably a bad idea to fight.

Educate yourselves before you put your health at risk.

yes, he should cut at LEAST ten pounds up to the day of the fight, and eat ten pounds of chicken alfredo the morning of the fight to put the weight back on.
