Is it a bad idea to workout your abs everyday?

    if you can work them out everyday you probably arent even working them out right. i can picture you in the gym right now doing 500 crunches.
    besides, muscle doesnt grow when you're working it out. muscle grows when you rest.

    Yea, it's a dumb idea. Dumb because you're not letting them rest as someone else mentioned, you coudl be hitting other muscles that you probably lack and you'll look like a complete moron in the gym working your abs everyday. Abs are made in the kitchen, homie, It doesn't matter how much you work your abs, if you got fat there, there not going to show. Focus more on getting rid of the fat rather than doing abs every day. Hit them like 3x a week if you want, that's enough time for some rest.

    Its fine to work it out everyday. I find doing just abs boring so prefer to do a little anywhere from 4-6 days per week. By little I mean just 2-5 sets of hanging leg raise or variations.

    I prefer working my abs the way I work other muscles....high intensity, relatively low reps.......I'm usually to sore the next day to work them out again.

    Abs are an endurance muscle. Nothing wrong with training them every day.

    Visible abs are. Abs are made from working them, just like every other muscle in your body.

    3 sets of 40 with the ab wheel 3 times a week > any ab exercise I have ever done.....and I have tried them all.

    I agree 100%. Focus more on losing overall weight if you want a 6 pack. I think working out the abs once a week is sufficient because things like squats workout the abs.

    I've never focused on my abs, but by doing em 2-3 times a week my squat and dl have improved.

    Plus bitches love em.

    That's the only reason I work'em, I always thought that they help w/ squats for stabilization.:ioj:

    i actually focus on mine by the day. I do obliques one day, lower abs another, upper another, and then one day w/all three.

    its just like any other muscle... if you can work it everyday, you are not working it hard enough use some weight when doing crunches.

    :werd: you bastards tricked me into thinking working abs was for suckers. then i cut down to 9-11sh% bf and low and behold. perfectly flat stomach. no abs at all. lulz
