is File Shredder legit?

    anyway, just wanted to get peoples opinions on whether this is a legit tool to make sure unwanted files are safely deleted.

    I've never used it, but I have used www.ccleaner.com for a year or so if you're open to an alternative. It's been great for me.

    i use that too but wasn't under the impression that CCleaner was a secure method...

    Eraser is free and I think does a great job
    Can do US DoD using 3 or 7 passes, or a Gutmann of 35 passes

    file shredder is free and will also use those shredding methods. It got pretty good reviews from cnet so I guess it's pretty decent.

    TuneUp Utilities has a great file shredder. However it isn't free... usually.:hsugh:

    It has settings where you can state the number of passes you want to use to overwrite the data, 3, 7 or 35.
