I have read some very good things and very bad things about Dual...but I just can't seem to pass this unit for all the features it has at the price point it's at.

    General features
CD receiver with built-in amplifier (17 watts RMS CEA-2006/50 peak x 4 channels)
plays CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs, including discs loaded with MP3 and WMA music files
HD Radio™ tuner built in, receives multicasting content (where available)
full iPod® control with iTunes™ tagging (on HD Radio stations)
    built-in Bluetooth®
    detachable face with 2-line display
    remote control
    Audio features
    5 preset EQ settings
    Expandability
inputs: front-panel USB and auxiliary inputs (USB input not compatible with iPod — a separate iPod cable is included)
outputs: 6-channel preamp outputs (front, rear, subwoofer)

    DUAL XHD7714

This is going in my FJ Cruiser which has a shitty radio and speakers, but I am going this install so I can get rid of the 2x DIN setup and have this setup:

Just quality in general. My scout came with one and it was fairly new and a piece of shit. My grandfather had me install one in his farm truck (was like 119 at BBY two years ago). Damn thing catches cd's when it tries to eject them. I actually need to get around to installing him something more reliable. You should be able to get a Pioneer for around the same price but maybe not HD Radio. I had an alpine in an old celica I had and it was a great head unit.

Just go play with a Dual at walmart then go to a B&M and play with a nice pioneer, kenwood, eclipse, alpine, etc... and you will answer the question on your own.

The dual's buttons will click like crap, the plastic will feel cheap and brittle, the screen wont be as aesthetically pleasing, etc... and this is before we start talking about the internal side of things such as the quality of the signal processing and power output or the longevity of the unit.

No Sony hasn't had shit for quality in car audio either in awhile. Like CBFryman said look for a pioneer, kenwood, eclipse, alpine, jvc, etc.

Sony is better than dual but if you need a cheap unit go with a cheap pioneer or alpine at the very least.

I'm just looking for a deck that will allow me to have a front AUX, BT, and play cd's, mp3's.....

I'm still using the stock speakers and am just looking for something that will use 2" of space instead of 4".

    Heres a pioneer: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/In-Dash/CD-Players/Pioneer/DEH-P6100BT

Here's a kenwood: http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertainment/In-Dash_CD_n_DVD_Receivers/1-DIN_CD_Receiver/KDC-X993 (Doesn't have front aux but has rear, could just run an extension cord from the back to wherever you want it.

JVC: http://mobile.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL028468&pathId=54&page=1 (We have had really good luck selling the JVC models they are generally less expensive for the amount of options you get, and see very few come back with problems.)

The Dual brand has been around since the 1960's. They were an excellent brand for turntables (that was their only real claim to fame.) They were bought out in the early 1980's and went to Hell. They branched into other segments of the home and car electronic fields and are not known for their quality.
