Just wondering, if so what do you do during Ramadan? How do you keep from not losing a ton of muscle?

    you have to fast correct?

it is not a huge deal because it is only like 3 days (I am not muslim so i am a little fuzzy on the details).

fasting once in a while is actually very good for the digestive system and it hels get some of the toxins out of your body.

I remember reading an article about muslim players in the NBA and the dude Shareef Abdur-Raheem (not sure now, but used to play for the Hawks) would wake up in the middle of the night to eat.

    can you drink gatoraid?

If not then I assume all you can consume is water during the day. So eat a huge meal at night and a huge breakfest (Waffle House MVP All Star Special, sans the bacon/sausage of course).

no, nothing during the day. no water, food, gum, anything. so i am guessing my best bet is trying having a big protein shake with each meal to help maintain

I don't see what timing has to do with it, if you schedule yourself to eat regularly, but at different times during the day, there is no purification and hunger to make you sympathize for those who truly do go hungry. Eating the same amount of food but at different times is not the purpose, not even close to it. If you're going to make it that way, might as well eat whenever in the hell you want.

Most people dont sleep during the day and work etc at nite. It is a test of wills to go from sunrise to sunset without anything. Most people then have a small meal after sunset with family and a small meal in the morning. You are not supposed to stuff your face you actually usually eat a lot less calories then you should. The fast is about showing your strength and commitment and about bringing family together. For the whole month you have to adapt to wake up earlier to eat a prefast meal then spend your regular day working, school whatever. It also isnt just about food, during the day you are supposed to restrain from other things also such as sex
