Looking for serious knowledge, not noobs who hurt their back doing lat pulldowns.

My brother has degenerative disk disease. He has multiple annular disc ruptures with central disc protrusions at L5, S1 and L3-4. He is getting a settlement soon and will be able to begin working out, he wants to build strength, as he hasn't done much for a few years because of his injury. Im curious for someone with a back in his condition, what types of exercises should i focus on to start with? What things should i avoid? Not sure if anyone on here knows much about this, figured i would give it a shot, thanks.

I'd honestly ask his spine doctor to let him know what the best thing to do for it is. I'd be very very careful with that.

don't let someone on here put your brothers injury on danger. Talk to a sports doctor, or a doctor that isn't against weight lifting.

Ya i was also wondering if anyone had any tips on a getting a GOOD sports doctor, i have been looking through some local "sports" trainer's and i am really unsure on their credibility, i mean with most of the shitty certs anyone could classify themselves as a sports trainer or injury specialist.

OT is probably the last place I would go for someone with serious back problems seeking good, legitimate advice.
