I saw someone with a Panasonic DSLR yesterday. I couldn't help but think, how could someone overlook all the Canon and Nikon options and go with that? I mean, aren't the Rebels and lower-end Nikons the same price?

I said the same thing about Pentax until I took the time to read the reviews and realized what a value for dollar they were. :eek3:

Too bad their lens selection is so small.

I used to think this. and now I work down the street from a gigantic Olympus building. And everywhere I used to turn for like 2 years, there would be an Olypus tent setup for recruiting. It was the hotness and everyone talked about it. So since this buzz was in the area, when it came time for folks to buy a new camera, guess what they bought with no care as to other brands?

funny thing is that the campus they have here has nothing to do with cameras, it is the headquarters building for their medical optical equipment :mamoru:

Meh. I have a lumix fz20 I bought 3 or 4 years ago I'm looking to get rid of. It does "allright" I guess , one step above a P&S - but the hell with a fixed lens. Barrel distortion, purple fringing, lack of creative control features, meh. I'm kind of burned on Panasonic. If you need zoom, and that's all you need, go with panasonic lumix series.

Now the dslr's they have come out with - I haven't evaluated nor would I want too. I've come to the conclusion that when it comes to any products that need accessories and add ons, go with the most popular. The products are in supply, bigger selection, better third party products, etc etc. The olympus, pentax, and panasonics just don't have that.

    I've owned an FZ10, FZ20, and FZ30.

While the FZ10 was ahead of it's time when it was released, there really wasn't anything special about it. Same being said about the other two. This LX3 though...

    16:9 1/1.63-inch CCD
    F2.0-F2.8 24-60mm
    RAW output
    full manual controls

All in a compact..! :noes: This is the camera I've been waiting for.
