I broke my Tamron 17-50 so I'm looking for a new lens.

I was amazed with the contrast and sharpness of every pic I seen taken with a 17-40mm. I know I will lose focal length and aperture over the Tamron so I'm still debating it :hyper:

I have the 17-40 and like it but I recently used the 16-35 F 2.8 and it was really nice on a FF. I think you should think about what you use your wider angle lenses for. If you shoot a lot of landscapes and have a tripod then it probably doesn't matter. If you need it indoors for weddings or event photography then you should consider the 16-35 IHMO.

    my mark 1 blows

17-40 is great, other than the 2.8 vs 4, it held its own against the 16-35 mark 1

    wide angle 2.8 is overrated
