I'm gonna switch up my working sets soon and wanted to try another 1RM while my volume is still low. Good idea if I've already done some recent 1/2RM or should I just up the volume now and forget the 1RM

I max every other time I lift, not the big three though usually, and I almost never pull for a max

My DL's gone up quite a bit and my main training for it is going really heavy every week, but not quite my 1RM.

    Say my 1RM's around 350 (which it is), i'll go in and do 135 x 8, 225 x 8, 275 x 4-5, 330 x 1, then do another 275 x 4-5 and immediately drop set to 225 if I can do it without barfing.

Been working for me pretty well so far... I've tried 1RMing my absolute max every week and after a few weeks i started to feel like pain/injury would hit me if i continued the behavior... so I switched to doing a single rep of something a little below my max, and doing working sets of something just a little lower than that when possible.

If you plan to compete then go for it. Otherwise, it is not going to really help you much.

i don't have self esteem issues at all. i lift weights because i enjoy lifting. settings numerical goals is one way to do it. i enjoy going for 1RM because it lets me test my maximal strength and be like "whoa I got stronger'

i start my career aug 10. there's no chance i can keep up the workouts i've been doing these past few weeks. they require too much energy

i'm already stronger than i ever thought I could be in my whole life. i am sure i could get a much bigger total than 1200 but i am making the choice to focus on other things. only live once and lifting isn't the most important thing to me

i'm a finance major starting 60+ hrs a week. if i end up in ibanking or something i'll be doing 80-100.

ibanking isn't worth it - unless you're crazy and really love that kinda work. majoring in finance is still the best idea IMO. i rec'd tons of interviews with good marks and finance major even for accounting positions and stuff
