Is 1.6 GHZ considered "a lot"?

Discussion in 'OT Technology' started by Scrumpdillyumptious, Jul 11, 2005.

  1. Meaning, is it enough to play high-end games and stuff?

Also, is 256 MB RAM enough for games? Thanks.

    lol no

you want an absolute minimum of 512 ram, preferably 1gb

you'll want 2.4ghz at a minimum for most games preferably 3ghz (or the amd equivalant 2400+, these have lower clock speeds but perform better per cycle)

you also have to consider your video card. that has to be up to par also for gaming.

if it's a notebook w/ a pentium-m it's not a lot, but for the most part it'll do. but if your talking about p3 (p4?) then no, that's not a lot

and what ^^ said about the memory...512 is a must have now a days, w/ 1 gb being recommended, but not necessary

no it wont do for high end games, like he asked. It might play some games in the lowest settings, but it wont do for BF2 maxxed out.

did you not read? i said "for the most part" obviously if ur going to want to run the newest games on sooper dooper badass mode then obviously ur going to want the best. i said for the most part it'll be sufficient seeing as how i have a 1.7 p-m and i can run doom3 and hl2. if he paired a good vid card w/ that he should be able to play new games on moderate to low settings
