I just received a letter from the Army says "SUBJECT: Notification of Selection for Personnel Accountability Muster Duty"

My IRR ends in January 2008. So, wtf is Muster Duty? Hopefully, it's not activation :noes:

It's not, it's basically the Army's way of trying to fix the IRR call-up system. When the whole ordeal in Iraq broke out, the Army realized their system was flawed because people weren't updating them with their current address and what not.

Basically the Army is going to test this out on 5000 IRR and have them show up for medical screening, admin tasks, etc at one of 4 reserve centers. It's just a one day process and the soldiers selected will get paid $174.

Turbo, what can happen if you don't show up?

I already called and do plan on showing up.

I was reading on the forums at the Army times about this and people were asking what would/could happen if you didn't show up.

Better to only get mustered for that than to just get recalled like I did :o If you get a Western Union Mail-Gram then you should start to worry :wavey:

    What were they saying?

If it were me I'd show up because that's the kind of guy I am. But I'm just saying that there's nothing saying you actually received the letter.

My friend's wife talks about when the Marines were looking to call him back to active duty when the OG desert storm started to ramp up. She says that he left for work in the morning without saying goodbye so she was already pissed at him...so when the Marine LtCol was calling that afternoon she said word for word:

Recruiter: "Ma'am my name is LtCol ____ and I'm calling for Rick _____ - Can I speak with him?"

Friend: "I don't know where that son of a bitch is. He left me pregnant with a crying 1y/o baby - if you find him can you tell him to get his ass home?"

embarrassed LtCol: "Uhh...ma'am if we do we will most certainly get him to live up to his obligations..." more stuttering I imagine and phone call cut short.

    :bowrofl:

She didn't tell him about the phone call for nearly 5 years after that because she knew that he would have jumped at the chance to get back in. He's still pissed to this day at her for it.

The AF just did this as a test. It was voluntary.
