Anyone know what the chances are for a 5711 NBCD Spec getting recalled?

    Who's got the inside scoop?

Obligation 071119, still plenty of time for them to get me.

If i'm going back in, I minus well volunteer and LAT move.

That won't work. When I was mobilizing in '04, I took a trip to Ft. Knox for a medical, and there was a guy there who was waaay overweight. We started talking and he told me about how he was on IRR and they called him up. Army though

About the recall, they're exempting Marines on their first and last year of obligation. In other words if you did 4 and got out, you'd better hope you're 12 months fromyour initial seperation or final contract expiration.

As far as your job, I dunno. I remember it being a ton of MPs and grunts when I was recalled in '03. They mainly got us there to be human shields at the base's gates though.

It's been 9 months since I got out. By November I'll be in my second year IRR. That's only a couple of months away and from what I've read, they'll be recalling for the next couple of months. So yea, I think my chances are pretty high.

I just got an email from the Marine Reserve Command asking me to update my civilian employment information. That probably means nothing but I was wondering if anyone else got that message and hoping it's not just me.

I ain't got nothin against going back. I want to make a smart choice by asking for something like intel field instead of being told i have to stay in the NBC field.

    Yut

Well for one, in a recall you don't get a choice as far as where you go and what you do.
If you were NBC, you're either gonna do NBC again or something easier than that. The only way to get any choice in the matter is to reenlist. I was never asked to be voluntarily reactivated - I just received orders. At the time I lived 2 miles away from my previous duty station and still kept in contact with the people there. The orders I got were for a base across the country, and even though I burned up the phone lines and pounded on doors, I couldn't gte them changed.

Yup, I'd rather reenlist into the Intel field if my chances are high for getting recalled.

I used to work at the brig and I do not recall one person being in there because they refued to show up from being recalled. Just FYI.
