irc port blocked...

    Im wondering if anyone here could help me out with this. i am at college and i believe they have the port irc uses blocked cause it wont let me connect. anyone know how to change the port or what it takes to get it working?

    You have to have access to the firewall....that is what is causing the block

    haha man, that's funny. I just started college here in NY and noticed the SAME thing. 6667 outgoing is blocked. If you want, I can hook you up with a shell account that you can use to connect to IRC.

    you could get putty to forward the port

    Find a buddy who lives off-campus, install Squid on his computer, use some ephemeral port that is not blocked via your campus' outgoing network, voila!
