    Because if they have M16s instead of AK47s, that means they have to buy NATO ammo from now on.

    Haven't you figured out yet that the entirety of the Iraq war was about making sure they become friendly to us (and dependent on us) for the forseeable future? What better way to make money?

    Not entirely true. They could have converted over to the AK-101 series instead.

    Would of been the smarter choice thats what alot of the newer nato former WP countries did. No guarantee they would even buy ammo from us if they get there arsenals tooled up again, they use to make their own ammo and small arms under Saddam.
