i have the new shuffle. it's not stupid expensive so i'm not really freaked out about accidentally delt smashing it or anything. works well and stores more than enough music for my gym sessions but i'm sure there are cheaper options out there.

Nano > Shuffle. The nano's are tiny and the screen is very useful.

Shuffle > nano for the gym. In real life, the nano is obviously better... But Who wants to smash a screen with a dumbell?

I've got a shuffle that I use only for gym use. Its great, fits anywhere, clips anywhere which comes in handy for when you are wearing shorts with no pockets. Also I have dropped it numerous times with no problems. I would most def be more afraid taking the nano to the gym, that screen just looks way to easy to break, I have also heard the nano gets scratches all over very easily.

i had both the 1st gen and 2nd gen ipods. both work great at the gym. i sold my 1st gen on ebay, and currently use the 2nd gen. the clip is very useful for basketball shorts. both ipods are like rocks, you can smash them with dumbbells, drop em on the ground, and stick it up your ass. it simply won't break.

    get it refurbished here:
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APP...owse&mco=EC0F3C63&node=home/specialdeals/ipod

that's where i got my 2nd gen for 50 bucks, i think shipping is about 5-6 bucks extra. i think you can get the 1st gen one for like 30-35 bucks refurbished when they have them in stock.

i also have the nano, which i used for the gym for awhile. it's definitely not as practical, since i was scared dropping dbs on it. i just use it in my bathroom with the jbl onstage ii speakers (the thing is LOUD).

the only thing bad about them is itunes. i hate that program with passion.

i used my friends clip shuffle while joggine one day...could barely tell it was there which was nice and great if you don't have pockets

but i still stick to my 30GB ipod, only because i like to change songs frequently

well, if you have it on an armband you'd have to be doing something crazy to be able to smash it with a dumbbell. i've accidentally dropped mine a few times too, and it works fine. one time i even dropped it from like 5 ft up onto a cement floor face down but still nothing. this is one of the new aluminum nano's btw. ftw

would you recommend the 2nd gen over the 1st gen since it's a clip on? How does it compare to having it strung around your neck with the lanyard? And I can probably get a new one off of ebay for ~40. Just wondering about the clip vs. lanyard.

i recommend the 2nd gen way more than the first gen. the 2nd gen is like 2-3 times smaller, and looks way better imo. the only problem is that you don't really have a battery indicator on the 2nd gen, maybe there is, but i'm not sure how to find that out.

i don't like that neck strap, it could get nasty in a few weeks of sweat.

My old shuffle just took a shit. The good news is that my gym plays "YMCA" for the elderly people on the treadmills. :ugh:

Time for a new mp3 player.

I've got the old shuffle and have no problems with it. I just throw it in my pocket. Even if I had the new one, I dont think I would use the clip.
