my wife will be getting one of these for use at the gym. she doesn't care about playing particular songs, just that she hears music she likes. the incredibly simplistic controls with no menus to worry about, the tiny size, weight, and price nail the deal.

...but i'll be keeping my iPod Mini. :)

I think the mini is a nice size. I don't care for the fullsize.

ditto. i like to carry mine in my front pocket. the full sized iPod is a hair big for that.

and 4 GB is plenty for me. the longest straight stretch i've used it so far was a 4 hour drive. it has more than enough capacity for me. i understand that some people feel they need to carry their entire music collection with them, but i'm not one of those people. :) that, and i'd have to use some pretty good compression to carry my entire music collection on even the highest capacity full size iPod since i've been buying CD's since soon after they started selling them. :)

    bigger isn't always better.

and before you make a funny about that one, you might want to talk to my wife. :naughtyd:

My 20G is in my front pocket all day long. :hs:

I think it's great for the gym too. I may grab one later if I have a use when I sign up at the new gym by my house. Currently I work out at work and just turn on the Music on the dish network since I'm the only one in there when I'm there. No need for an MP3 player for the gym ATM.

I'm seriously considering getting one to use as a thumb drive/mp3 player. I already have a 20 gig iPod tho...

i wanna get one cause all i have is my 256k usb key.

i would like it for the key works but even more for the fact its got a mp3 player built in, and its as small as possible.....i was thinking about how great one of these would be last week....

apple is reading its users minds.

That is a pretty good idea. Using as a key as well.

Ordered a 1gb shuffle yesterday. Going to use it for gym/running/snowboarding. I had a 1st gen ipod and didn't really miss it when it died. Size is going to be great.

Best thing is that when the battery dies on this one (and it's $99 to replace, so might as well just buy a new one) I'll have a 1gb thumb drive.

:p I'm getting a 40 Gb iPod in little over a week, so I don't really have any use for that... But it's good for people who actually need one of those
