if you want to wipe it, use your iPod updater then plug in your ipod, and hit restore. this will delete all of your music and everything else and set it back to factory setting (if that's what you realy want).

as for your friend, make sure his/her ipod is set to manually add music. if it's on auto sync, then add the music to their iTunes Library and they should be good to go :bigthumb:

well she doesn't have her own computer and wanted to pick and choice the songs she wants from my library (which is over 900) so is there a way to just select all the songs she wants from my library and drag it to her ipod. and how do you turn off auto sync. haha sorry, with my ipod i just put my whole library in it so i have never had this problem.

when she set her ipod up, did she set it up with auto-sync, or to manually add songs? f it's to manually add songs, then IIRC she can connect her ipod to your computer then drag which ever files she wants over via itunes. otherwise, she'll probably have some difficulty

fuck you, that's how it works asshole.

Any Ipod not recognized to be tied to that library will wipe clean when you connect it.

this isn't true. itunes will give you a dialogue box saying "this ipod seems to be attatched to another library" or something, but it wont erase it unless you set it up to auto-sync.
if you're looking to restore your ipod, then you can do that and keep it to manual and add the songs when ever you want to.

Not true again. autosync is set automatically to any pod that is not recognized. You do not get the option to choose manual sync if the Ipod is not already set to do so on that library. Once you hit the "ok" button, it's over. The only way it does not wipe the pod clean is if you decline, in which it immediately disconnects the Ipod and shuts off.

if it's set up to auto-sync and they connect it to another computer, it shows a dialogue box saying that the ipod isn't associated with that library. it isn't going to just start auto-syncing the ipod with the stuff on the alternative computer

which is why I said if you ACCEPT, it will wipe it clean, and if you decline to set that Ipod to that library it will disconnect and shut off.

Think about it, you know what I'm saying. The dialog box you were speaking of. There are only two ways to go....

"YES" - wipes it clean (immediate autosync)

"NO" - disconnects and shuts off

until you set the Ipod to the library, you do not get the option to change any of it's settings. (what to sync, whether or not to sync, etc...)

That's fine, but I am not an "idiot" for not contacting the dark side to inadvertently draw out physic powers to know that without you providing such information. What I said was correct for the info given.

Best you just use senuti (if you're on a mac) and rip the pod, then cleanse it, then reload.
