I'm not big on Apple's new "announce ahead of time" policy. Lets hurry up with the SDK (and the flood of no longer free apps for the iPhone that shall follow).

I'm guessing most of the apps will be free.

If not I don't care bc I've got like $50 in gift cards to the apple store that I sure as hell aren't going to spend on music :ugh:

I'm not talking about apps from Apple, I'm talking about the software other companies are going to make. I'm sure you'll see many of the applications that you use right now on your jailbroken phone become pay for apps.

I know...I still think 99% of them will be free unless it required a lot of work. (like video recording, etc).

it will be as long as you are on AT&T, if your unlocked then you'll have to stay the jailbroken path.

I would be willing to bet that the developers who have already gotten dev kits will have some apps available to download after the announcement.

srsly, where did everyone get the 26th? i haven't heard any official confirmation anywhere, and...would apple announce an event with less than 1 week's notice?

There has been rumor that it will be the 26th and that's it. Like every rumor in the Mac community, it's gospel until proven otherwise.

They haven't sent out any invites to anyone. Geez, if they are going for the 26th then they sure better next day air those invitations.

I don't believe "gospel" is the proper nomenclature you were looking for, dude.

Damn... they've been mispelling my name the past couple of times. Who in the world spells Jon, P-H-I-L-L-I-P?

So Linkin Park played their show at the Apple Store last night. Still no press invites sent out and Apple has always given the press at least a week notice. What do you think the chances of an event for Tuesday are now? Will they just take the online store down and update things? Personally I hope they wait on a new MBP for the new Intel Montevina processors with it's 1066MHz Front Side Bus with clock speeds ranging from 2.26-3.06GHz vs the current Penryn processors range from 2.1 to 2.8GHz and offer a 800MHz Front Side Bus.
