    I can't stand the wait.

The rates will be $40 unlimited data transfer for internet access ($20 for the text phones, but $40 for the PDA style phones which the Iphone falls into).

Standard plans start at $60 a month for about 450 minutes or so which brings the base plan to just under $100 per month for unlimited internet and 450 minutes for a package.

The phone will be $500 for the "little one" and $600 for the "big one". So you are looking at:

    $600 phone
    $100 plan + 40 activation + $whatever else
+$tax which will be around $70 in my state

Yes it needs two years service plan. I spent over an hour talking to a rep last week getting the low down.

This is not going to be an inexpensive venture......... It'll cost you a lot of money and a couple years of time, but there will be nothing like it for years to come. Everything in the future from here is expected to revolve around this phone and industry specialists expect it will take years for phones to catch up.

I'll be very impressed if the OS is that quick. It is fantastically responsive, especially compared to most mobile OS's today.

Werd, I would totally buy one if it were on Verizon. There are places in Texas where there simply isn't a tower close enough to get GSM service. I go to those places a lot. Luckily, my phone I have now is a Tri-mode, so I get signal everywhere.

Apple has spent a lot of time making sure the I-phone runs seamlessly. They were talking about the I-phone running a full version of OS-X in the keynotes at the Mac world introductions.

This is not supposed to be a "mobile" OS, it is supposed to be a fully functioning OS-X.

Does it have a function that works with Exchange mail?

That's seriously the only thing holding me back.

The $40 month for unlimited internet is BS. They tried to force me into that plan for the unlimited internet I have with my treo. I went with the $20 unlimited media net which is the same thing. I have heard some reps won't let you order it so what you do is add it to your account online and it should work. If you start using the internet excessively they might kill that on your account though.

I think i read somewhere that the unlimited data plan with the iPhone was going to be $30. I think gizmodo or engadgetmobile said something like that.

can't...and Jobs is recommending to go to a cingular store instead of an apple store for the first couple of weeks...since the hype is so great the apple stores will be swamped :o

SIM card without a doubt...that's the only way to activate a phone on Cingular/AT&T. No way in hell it will be interchangeable...at least not at first. I'm sure people will be able to crack it, however the phone will be limited if its cracked because it is only programmed to work on Cingulars networks and services.

When I first saw the iPhone, I was excited to get one. Then I found out Apple isn't allowing third party support, which killed my hopes.

WTF was Apple thinking not allowing third party applications? Pretty stupid. I might get one, but it won't be for a while.
