I use AOL's AIM app with Backgrounder, works like a charm. Well I don't use it much, but when I do, I have no problems with it disconnecting. I mostly use Backgrounder to run AOL Radio.

BeeJive has an option to keep you connected when you go back to the home screen. You can have it push your messages to your email addy, too!

The new AIM allows you to still be connected for awhile after you close the app

It still disconnects you after 5 minutes. :wtc:

Beejive is great. It's definitely worth the $15, but only if you have a push enabled email account.

iPhone 3.0 (available to devs now and to the public this summer) will allow this natively.

I have my own email address and I just have everything forwarded to a free push email account so I get emails instantly. Can't you just make the free account and use it for beejive?

    http://mail2web.com/

I think that first page is where you sign up for a pay account, but look around and you can find the free one (most likely under the "Free Services" tab at the top). Get an account from there, set up your normal email to automatically forward all new emails to that email address and then add the mail2web on your phone and you're good to go. Just remember if you open an email from the mail2web account and want to reply you have to tap the From: area and select which email account you want to send from.

I think they have it but you might have to pay some money for it. I can't remember if it's 20 a month or 20 a year, both of those sound too high/low to me.
