is everyone else having this problem? whenever i sync my iPhone (1st gen) with iTunes it does a "back up" before it "syncs"

the backup takes 5-10 minutes and the sync takes like 20 seconds.

This is annoying, is it everyone or just me.

I have like 10-12 apps in installed.

Mine takes that long too. Last couple times it seems like I was in a loop too.

Plug in, says "There are apps on the phone that aren't in your library. Sync or no?" I answer and it starts to back up. After the backup it asks again, then backs up again, then syncs. Really weird.

I've been wanting to start Leopard fresh anyway. Hopefully that'll fix my issues.

Happens on my PC also. Apparently, it is backing all of the applications every time instead of just the data. Supposedly, Apple is working on fixing that.

Yep, correct. Dump some applications off the phone and it won't take as long.

Did take about 5 minutes the first time after installing 2.0 and a bunch of apps on the phone from the App Store via the iPhone (so they had to be copied to the Mac for backup).

well I just delete several apps, added a couple, and I'm sync'ing right now. It's now taking a few longer. I'm guessing it takes this long when you add/delete apps and make big changes. I have about 6GB of data.

ok , just hit "x" to cancel the backup if you already backed up your phone, and it will just sync.
