    Maybe someone can figure this out cause I can't and I'm pretty sure theres a simple solution to this problem. I brough my comp to my dad's so I could play some games his compaq ( :mamoru: ) can't handle. I just switch all the plugs from his computer to mine. At first the USB cable modem wasn't workin and it turned out to be my Windows Firewall, so I turned it off and haven't had a problem since. The problem here arises when I go to plug it back into his computer, as it gives the same problem of saying it knows the modem is plugged in but it cant really work with it and turning off all the firewalls doesn't work. Anyone know how to fix this?

    try this
    1) Start-> Run "CMD"
    2) "ipconfig /release"
    3) "ipconfig /renew"

    Some cable modems need to be reset when you switch the NIC plugged into them. Try powercycling the modem, then do
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    as Zourne said.
