Hey guys, I'm normally quite good with computers, but lately my desktop has been acting up and I don't know why. The system is a couple years old, running XP SP2, and I've got high speed internet running to my comp through a router (ethernet cable).
Fairly often (several times a day) the computer will otherwise be working fine, but the internet connection will spontaneously no longer work. Other devices connected through the same router continue working fine. I can't get my comp back online without resetting it (which always works, but is a pain in the ass).
I thought maybe something was overheating, so I've tried leaving a fan blowing into the open case but it has no effect. As far as I know, nothing has changed between now and before it started, and no one else really uses this computer.
    Any ideas?

Can you change the cable to a different port and see if it clears up??

Different port in the router? Sure

Also, I should mention... it happens much more if uTorrent is running (up + down)

What kind of router do you have? Some routers will choke and reboot when presented with too many concurrent connections (as seen with torrent programs and p2p software).
