I live in an apartment with an open bedroom and moved into to it this week. The problem is that I had the modem set up with my desktop through Charter and it was plugged into the cable outlet/receiver in my old bedroom. Apparently the cable outlet/receiver downstairs is not set up for internet. I am trying to get Charter to come out and set up the cable receiver in my new room for internet but they want to charge me 50$. Is there any way I can make the outlet in my new room internet capable myself?

Chances are there are too many splitters in between that outlet and the outside. You could always run a new coax from the junction box outside your apartment straight to your room...thus bypassing all of the splitters.

The modem has to be off of the first splitter.
