I'm looking for some good write ups or articles on interface design. Not necissarily graphical user interfaces, but they'll do. Anyway, I've done some searching and I can't seem to find any really credible sources or any extensive write ups in the many areas of interface design. Any links or suggestions for places to look would be greatly appreciated (magazines or other literature).

What kind of interface design are you looking for? You could do it in Visio, VB, VC++, you could even make web-based interfaces.

Interface can also be known as a front-end which is required to work with a back-end. Example: Simple application accessing a database for data.

    Make yourself more clear ><

Not all interfaces work with all programming mediums. IE a photoshop tutorial for web interfaces isn't going to do you any good for a C++ program.

The best Windows program (in my opinion) for design would be Visio, recomending Visio 2002 or XP. It's great for all kinds of designing. You can design a front-end interface with it, design a Database, design blueprints for a house, all kinds of stuff. Good if your into Analysis and Design stuff. Mostly used to get a better idea on how things work. In the newer versions of Visio there is a Reverse engineer feature which will reverse engineer your design into a working sample. A database, for example.

yeah visio is a pretty cool program, I've used it a little for data modeling and dfd diagrams.

That site isn't specific enough for me though...I need to keep looking
