The wife & I spent the day visiting our daughter and her family. Our son-in-law and I ran an errand to Walmart and, as has become my custom, I went through the sporting goods dept to check ammo. As I stood in front of the ammo case, which contained some shotgun shells & nothing else, the guy at the counter asked "May I help you?". I replied that, from looking in the case, no. He inquired as to what calibers I wanted and I told him 9mm and 22lr. He disappeared in the back and came out with 5 boxes of Federal 9mm ($9 each) and said they were out of 22. When I asked why they weren't in the case he proceeded to tell me a story. It seems that within the last week a group of "young gentlemen" smashed the glass on the case, grabbed boxes of ammo, and ran like hell for the front door. They weren't as fast as the clerk's radio and security blocked the doors. They then ran around in the store slamming into customers and pulling stuff off of the shelves, in an attempt to get away, until finally apprehended. The manager decided that all popular calibers will now be stored in the back. I don't know if other Walmarts will do this too now but the moral of the story is "Ask.". I'm now ahead another 250 rounds.
