I'm training for a tri with a bit of lifting on the side, and it's been going good

so I hit up the pool, doing my laps, taking a break, I see this asshat gino motha fucka come in, he asks the lifeguards if he can dive in the shallow end :coolugh: they tell him no, he casually jumps in...I scratch my head wondering wtf is wrong with this guy, and move on

starts swimming in the medium lane (doing breast stroke and front crawl) and it's as per traffic rules usually, stick to the right of your lane and move forward...left is the people coming the other way

so i'm on my right, swimming forward front crawl, and I notice this asshat swimming RIGHT at me...I stop and stand up

    he then says to me
'yo, I want this side please'
    'what? no, you gotta share'
'ya but I want this side'
'nah man it's like traffic, stick to teh right, and share the lane'
'oh ok *lightbulb goes off*...sorry man'
':eek3: no problem cuz :ugh: '

I finished my lap, and left the pool to go lift...I refuse to share a pool with people this fucking dumb

needless to say I deadlifted more then ever 205*6...could of gone more but taking it easy, it aint much but with the casual lifting I am doing I'm happy :hsd:

cliffs: asshat almost kills himself diving headfirst in shallow end, then almost swims into my sexy body, and I lift broly-like...I have to go through doors sideways now

I'm not quick, I am having a big issue getting the flutter kick down for the front crawl, I use a different kicking method and have been really working on fixing that

    my guess, mid 40's :coolugh:

Cool, just keep at it. I got clocked in at 22.13 this weekend at my school's pool, but I used to be a competative swimer. :mamoru: Its kind of rediculous that I have not trained for swimming at all for almost a year now, and I'm beating my times from the peak of the season last year. Lifting ftmfw.

As for the kicking delema, I would suggest doing a laps just kicking with a kickboard (or some kind of floating device in front of you).

the kicking man..I've taken a class, the teacher was clueless, waste of 70$, I had a friend come out to help me out and sitll nothing

I grew up and learned to swim in an ocean, it's very different there, and I've developed kicking for movement...so instead of fluttering, I just kick...I've tried the flutter board and still nothing

I've kind of given up on that aspect ot be honest with you, now I just kick kick, and it works fine ... I just know it's not efficient and a drain on energy, but what can ya do :hs:

I'll keep working on it though :o

You sure you're not doing the "dolphin kick" instead?

Like I said, doing the kickboard thing will let you focus on your kick alone and will help you fix it, it is usually one of the first problem areas for people learining how to swim properly. I was a swimming instructor for little kids as a side job during summer and teaching them how to properly kick was the first thing we tought. Your legs take up a large portion of your body, might as well have them pull their own weight efficiently.

I aint never been real strong or even training to become strong, so I'm happy with the lift, and as stated my main focus is the tri, not getting stronger, I just lift after the cardio cause I enjoy it

the doplin kick is both feet together right?

I am basically trying to do the flutter as best from what people have showed me...I've honestly gone as far as signing up for a class to work on that, which was no help (looks ok, not sure why you're not moving forward, but keep practicing...was what the instructor told me :coolugh: ) and my friend helped me, said the same thing, but I barely move, and I mean barely if at all

I been practicing it, and I have it going OK for swimming backwards...forward is no go...I've spent countless times with the flutter board thing, and I BARELY move

basically at the hip I move the leg (about 1.5 feet apart) with the leg straight I straighten out the lower part...simular to 'chipping' a soccer ball but in the water, if that makes any sense

    any tips?

nah it's cool he didn't know how...but I mean we were 3 people sharing the lane, it's not rocket science to figure out

but I mean asking if he can dive into the shallow end is somewhat frightning, then having that happen kind of compounds
