....As I left the base yesterday and drove by the main gate, I saw a young PFC standing on the median in his Charlies. I thought it was kind of weird for a Marine to be standing there but thought nothing of it.

As I got closer, the PFC grabbed a sign and held it up. I slowed down to read it.

"DO YOU HAVE A DESIGNATED DRIVER? THINK BEFORE YOU DRINK!"

Ah. That Marine must have gone to NJP last week. Probably the same Marine that was in my office speaking with a Chaplain about the poor decisions he made to lead up to his NJP. Underaged, drinking/driving, etc.

Hopefully, the message also gets through to this PFCs fellow Marines.

they do that kind of shit all the time at lejeune. they would also get crushed up cars and leave them on the major streets to remind people of drunk driving.

They love to use that punishment technique here at Rucker. Nothing funnier than seeing a WO1 holding a sign that says "DON"T SPEED" or "DUI"S ARE A CAREER ENDER". Not only do you get to laugh beacuse they are standing out there like idiots, but you kow they also got an article 15 to match the sign.

I love to come up with creative punishments for soldiers. Its way easier and more fun than going the administrative way :o

we have had 4 DUI's on base in the last 4 weeks. 2 from my group and 1 from my squadron. The one from my squadron was made to go in every class and set up signs against drunk driving and his career is over for all intensive purposes. O well easy way to get rid of idiots

They do the same thing up in Fort Wainwright except make them stand outside of the px. We also have a nice little sign leaving post that says how many dui's we have gotten that year and what unit(s) the last 3 have come from.

I prefer watching them carry around a 25lb weight for a few months that they are accountable for 24 hours a day. That or filling up sandbags, with a spoon, that are 3 miles from the sand pit. They all make for long days.

^^^ Speaking of that, there was this dude ski that could not make it to formation on time to save his life. So his punishment was to carry around a little sack with 5 rocks in it that he had to have at every formation and on him at all times, when we were in formation he had to put them on the ground and report that his soldiers were all accounted for. This went on for a month and was always a good source of entertainment.
