I know that 99% of personal trainers are gayer than AIDS/total douche canoes/totally not knowledgable etc.

Well, I was interested in doing it to make some extra money. I love health, fitness, nutrition, etc and think I'd actually be pretty good at it. Plus I live downtown in a nice city and it would be nice to get to work out at a really nice expensive gym for free.

So, most importantly, how do I go about getting certified?

Second, what's the average pay you guys receive?

I'd rather coach people in lifting and whatnot but realize my target market will probably be 40 year old soccer moms trying to lose 10 pounds before going on vacation with their family to Florida and I can deal with that. :dunno:

    Thanks.

Is it possible to take the exam online by chance? The next exam in my area is an hour and a half away and not until June :hs:

I think all but the NSCA will let you do it all online. The ISSA requires a video and quite a bit more work though.

they aren't difficult if you study, it's mostly the kinesiology parts that are difficult. Some tests require you to demonstrate some exercises also.

the gym I work at is kinda jewish so right now im making $18 a session, another cert will kick me up to $24 a session. I am probably going to go to work at 24hr because they pay better though.

You just have to be really good at selling yourself. All I rlly have to do is show them what I used to look like and they are eating out of the palm of my hand

I dont even think I am even qualified to be a PT  I am definately not as smart on the subject as Ceaze, christophers, GNP, Pur, etc but I know a LOT more then the other pt's at the gym, which is really really really pathetic. :hs:

Theres a PT with a kines degree and 2 certs. Guy doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. He told me protein shakes were making him fat :ugh:

    oh yea

start by getting a easy cert so you can see if you like doing it

then get the better (a lot more difficult to get) certs (nasm, issa, acsm, etc)

Would being a PT something I could consider looking into as a second job? And can you successfully be self taught?

Damn i want to do it but the prerequisites say that have you have to have a bachelor's or be a senior and i'm a junior.

Does anybody know of any other certifications that are credible that don't require a BA?
