I suppose similar topics to this have been done but I don't have a subscription so there is no searching for me. I was hoping people would list some of thier favorite intense classical music. This could either be grand in scale such as Flight of the Valkyrie or a Beethoven Symphony, make incredible use of vioces that gives you chills such as Mozart's Requiem, or perhapse take a more subdued intensity such as some well played chamber music or perhapse just on a single instrument.

I suppose you could include some music in films(A lot of people like the type of music that's in the Narnia trailer), but try not to make it the main focus.

    Thanks a lot.

the harpsichord "cadenza" of Bach's 5th Brandenburg Concerto

Trevor Pinnock and the English Concert recorded the most energetic performance I've heard...think of the muppet dude bashing his head on the keys

try Verdis Requiem as well, very nice. Pretty much any classical piece using the Dies Irea will be intense

The most obvious one I can think of is the conclusion of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. Cannons can make any song intense.
