I've searched google but didn't find anything. I just got the new Intel d915 motherboard chipset with PCIe slot, but no AGP slot. Can I temporarily run a cheapo PCI slot vid card on this type of board, until I can get a PCIe card? I'd rather wait for the ATI x800 xl PCIe cards to come out, they seem like a good value for the price, $299.

I tried hooking it up with a PCI vid card yesterday, and monitor did not come up, and card did not read in board. Anything I can do? Say, get a PCIe card now for testing, set the mobo to read the vid card from the PCI slot, then uninstall the PCIe card?

You can use a PCI card, and you souldn't have to "set" it to anything to have it work.

But I highly recommend a 6600GT or 6800 over the ATI.

I tried just using any PCI vid card, monitor didnt come on, not sure why. Maybe I need to troubleshoot more. :dunno:

Have you read the reviews on the x800 XL, is as good or better than 6800GT cards for $100 less than the nvida cards. Won't be out for probably awhile though.

Yes, and for every X-series card ATi has, nVidia has a better-priced, better-performing, longer-lasting card available.
