INTEL CENTRINO chips, how fast are they??

    my new laptop features a 1.4 intel centrino chip with 855GM chipset... what does this equate to in P4 terms..??

    1.4 Centrino (Pentium M) on Office apps, is about equivalent to a P4 2.2ghz. On content creation/games/etc, it's about equivalent to a P4 1.6ghz or so. If it's not a gaming machine, the battery life is a big plus. Most decent Centrino laptops will get 4-6 hours with no sweat.

    The real problem with laptops is the HDD. The disk IO is really slow! If you have a gig of RAM, you should be OK, though.

    the laptop is an aucilary machine.. my desktop is pretty good so im content with a light laptop with a long battery life... and anything past 1.3 ghz is really have the use for..
